Thoughts:
This was a comfortable costume to wear, however, it's a little time consuming to put on due to the added extras. The modifications made definitely improved the look of the costume and gave it a better appearance. I would love to remake this again from scratch, but the sheer cost and amount of material needed would make it quit expensive unfortunately.

( Touken Ranbu Online)
Reason for making this costume:
I loved the designs of the costumes in the Touken Ranbu game, and "Mikazuki" has my favourite outfit of the available characters. As this was to be worn in summer, this seemed like a good choice to go with.
How I made the costume:
The Robe -
Due to the cost of importing the material I wanted, I decided to purchase a costume already made and modify it. The Robe and the white shirt underneath were fine as a base. For the details on the blue robe, I went over the gold details with gold ribbon which were appliquéd on top.
The Pants -
The pants were too big and too long, so had to be taken in at the waist and shortened at the hem. The excess material was pinned, stitched and removed, with a new seam created at the back. The hem of the pants were measured, cut, folded over, stitched and the seam ironed.
The Shoes -
The shoes were platform sandals purchased online.
The Accessories -
The Gold waist plate was remade using one sheet of Worbla after drawing up a paper pattern. Smaller strips of warble were added to the edges for detail, holes were punctured at the end to allow for the rope to be threaded through, as this also acted as the fastening. The red sash is red leftover cotton with the pattern printed on with a sponge and stencil I made. Red ribbon was added to the edges to finish off the piece.
The black fabric gauntlets were re-covered with black pvc material, with gold ribbon sewn on for the detail and for the attachment to the gloves.
The necklace pendant was made from worbla, and the chain from gold ribbon, a fastener as added to the back.
The Sword -
A pre-bought prop was used (due to time constraints) and modified. The scabbard was sanded, primed and painted with acrylic paint. The icons were first made in Paint Tool Sai and printed, cut out and applied to the scabbard with a glue stick. The whole piece was then painted with a layer of varnish.
The sword handle was re-done with gold ribbon, wrapped around the handle and tied in place at the end.
